2004 Boys' Basketball Tournament Recap
Paul VI High School Panthers (Fairfax, Virginia) played their suffocating full court pressure from start to finish and finally wore down American High School Patriots to win the 2004 Boys' Basketball Classic 53-43. The game represented a rematch of last year's semi-final tussle, also won by Paul VI. Paul VI was led by a balanced team effort of Danny Sumner with 15, Artie Dabney with 12, and Jean Cajou with 11. Paul VI won the battle of the boards against a taller American team 27-25, with Dabney leading the way with 7 rebounds. Dabney spearheaded a strong defensive effort with 6 steals and ended up taking home the tournament MVP award. Also name to the tournament All-Tournament Team were teammate Jean Cajou, American High School's Uwem Eshietedoho and Steve Gaulden, as well as Third Place Isidore Newman's Tim Johnson and Richard Kohnke.
Isidore Newman topped Boynton Beach 47-33 for Third Place honors. Miami Beach topped the consolation bracket for Fifth Place by beating Ransom Everglades 53-42. Miramar came from a 19-point deficit in the first half of the Seventh Place game, roaring back for a 48-47 win.
