Scholar Athlete

When the best high school teams in the state make it to the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) State Football Championship in December, the Junior Orange Bowl will be there to present a special award to one student on each of the teams playing. The graduating senior with the highest cumulative grade point average on each team will be presented with the Junior Orange Bowl Scholar Athlete Award.

The Scholar Athlete Award is presented to recognize the importance of maintaining academic excellence in unison with athletic endeavors. In December 2011, the event will be in its 20th year.

With the sponsorship and support of the Orange Bowl Committee, scholarship funds are donated to each recipient of the Scholar Athlete Award. Mrs. Krutulis of Gulliver Schools is the sponsor of the amazing trophies presented as part of this award.
