Clemson Tiger Band to March in 63rd Junior Orange Bowl Parade
The Junior Orange Bowl Committee is excited to have the Clemson University Tiger Band join the already impressive list of local talent who will be participating in the 63rd annual Junior Orange Bowl Parade. Come watch the Tiger Band march through downtown Coral Gables just a few days before they perform at the 2012 Discover Orange Bowl Game where the Clemson Football team will take on West Virginia. The 63rd Junior Orange Bowl Parade will be held on Monday, January 2nd at 3pm in the streets of downtown Coral Gables. This year’s theme for the Junior Orange Bowl Parade is, “Soaring to New Heights!”
Known as the “Band that Shakes the Southland”, the Clemson Tiger band is made up of wind instruments, percussion and other units such as color guard, dancers, and twirlers. The Tiger Band has earned a reputation as one of the finest bands in the country as it performs the famous Clemson fight song, “Tiger Rag”, and other numbers every Saturday in front of thousands of fans at college football stadiums across the country.
The Clemson Tiger Band will join local high school bands from, Coral Gables Senior High, Braddock Senior High, Miami Central Senior High, and Miami Senior High. Out of state bands will also be in attendance as Lincoln High School from Nebraska, Harlem High School from Georgia, and Metuchen High School from New Jersey will join the Parade.
The 63rd parade will feature WPBT 2’s Cat in the Hat as well as the 2011-2012 Junior Orange Bowl Royal Court, along with many more local South Florida talent as they reign in the new year and celebrate the 2011-2012 Junior Orange Bowl Festival Season. Favorites that have participated in the past will be back again this year, including Lil’ John Fire Wheelie Truck, the Mahi Shriners, Miami Children’s Hospital, and Jobie, the Junior Orange Bowl mascot. Others who will be participating in this year’s parade include, the US Army 82nd Airborne Division, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, Homestead Rodeo Association, Radio Disney, Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers, and the Village of Pinecrest.
While the Junior Orange Bowl Parade is free to the public, grandstand tickets are on sale for those who want premium seats. Grandstand seats provide the best viewing angle for parade spectators. Ticket-holders also have the added benefit of being treated to a Pre-Parade show featuring a music and dance piece by Miami Children’s Theater. You can purchase grandstand tickets by calling 1-866-999-9735 or by visiting the Junior Orange Bowl website at www.jrorangebowl.org/parade.
“The Junior Orange Bowl Parade is truly a festive and unforgettable experience for all involved, and I am very proud of the special relationships that are formed between our South Florida community and the Parade participants every year. The Parade is a great opportunity for organizations to highlight their youth services and proudly display the results of their hard work in front thousands of people.” stated Kathleen Kauffman, Parade Chair.
She added “The Parade is the perfect celebration for one last family gathering during the holidays before school starts again.”
The Parade will begin at 3pm by heading South on Ponce De Leon Blvd starting at Alhambra Circle. The Parade will continue West down Miracle Mile before finishing in front of the grandstand seating area on Biltmore Way, right in front of Coral Gables City Hall.
